ELK Studios launched Pirots in March 2023 and threw out the usual reels and paylines. Four parrots sit on the grid and each one collects gems of its own colour that sit next to it. Every gem pays the moment it’s picked up.
We call it the clean version of the series. Fewer features than the sequels, sure. But you’ll understand the whole thing in five minutes, and every later Pirots builds on exactly these rules.
How a Pirots round plays out
- Pick your stake. Anywhere from 0.20 to 100 per round. Start low so you see more rounds.
- Drop. Gems, parrots and feature symbols fall onto the 5×5 grid.
- Collect. Each parrot grabs matching gems next to it, up, down, left or right. Never diagonally.
- Features are shared. Any parrot can pick up a bomb, coin or wild in its path.
- Refill. Empty spots fill up and the parrots keep moving until nobody can go anywhere.
Bombs grow the board
A bomb is the only way to get a bigger grid. Each blast adds space until you hit 8×8. More space means more gems, longer chains and bigger rounds.
The meter above the grid
Everything collected fills the meter. A full meter hands out three chests of feature symbols, so the game keeps feeding itself.

Pirots gem payouts by level
Each number is what one collected gem pays, times your bet. A level 5 red gem on a NZ$1 bet is NZ$15. That’s why upgrades are the heart of the game.

Coins: the quickest multipliers in Pirots
A coin is the fastest way to a big number in a single move. A parrot grabs it and you’re paid the coin’s value times your bet. On a NZ$1 stake a 100× coin is NZ$100. Simple as.
